Free Inheritance Check

What are you really entitled to?

An honest initial assessment within a few working days

A will that leaves you out. A compulsory share that seems too low. A gift you only learn about after the death. Or assets in two countries – and nobody can tell you which law applies.

Before you decide whether taking action is worth it, you should know where you stand. That is what our free inheritance check is for.

Who is the check for?

  • You are considering contesting a will – for example because you doubt its authenticity or the testator’s capacity, or because it may have been made under pressure.
  • You do not agree with how the estate is being divided.
  • You want to know whether you are entitled to a compulsory share – and how much it is.
  • There were gifts during the deceased’s lifetime that reduce your share.
  • The estate has an international element: assets, heirs or the last residence in another country.
  • You do not know what happens after a death and want to understand what the Austrian probate procedure means for you.

How it works

1

Describe your situation

In a few sentences, about 2 minutes – using the form at the end of this page or simply by phone.

2

Send your documents

If available: the will, letters from the notary or the court, the court’s final distribution order (Einantwortungsbeschluss), deeds of gift.

3

Receive your initial assessment

Within a few working days we tell you openly whether you have claims, which deadlines apply and which next step makes sense. That can also mean: it is not worth it – which is a valuable answer too.

What you get

  • An honest assessment of your situation – no fairy tales and no sales pressure.
  • The key deadlines at a glance – in inheritance law, claims can be lost if you wait too long.
  • If it makes sense, a fixed-fee offer for the next steps.

What the check is not

The check is an initial assessment, not comprehensive legal advice and not representation. If you would like to continue with us afterwards, you will receive a written fixed-fee offer.

You know the price before we start.

Frequently asked questions

Is the check really free?

Yes. The initial assessment is free and without obligation. Costs only arise if you expressly instruct us afterwards – and then at a fixed fee agreed in advance.

How quickly do I need to act?

Inheritance law has deadlines, some of them short. If you want to contest a will or claim a compulsory share, you should not wait too long. In the check we tell you which deadlines apply to you.

What if the probate proceedings are already closed?

Claims can still exist after the final distribution order – for example to the compulsory share or to the crediting of gifts. We check this for you.

I do not live in Austria. Is that a problem?

No. The check is carried out entirely online, and we advise in six languages.

What happens to my documents?

Your information is protected by attorney–client confidentiality and treated in strict confidence.
